DfT circular 02/2003 on TSRGD 2002 para 13 says that "All ASL layouts are required to have an approach cycle lane...." It then goes on to say that "Traffic authorities need to provide layouts that allow pedal cycles to access the reservoir via the cycle lane without being obstructed by other vehicles. The cycle lane should be long enough for cyclists to bypass the queue of motor vehicles without weaving." Does a 1 metre long cycle lane meet this requirement? -----Original Message----- From: Chris Pearson [mailto:boing_uk@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 25 May 2005 13:44 To: tcug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TCUG] Re: ASL In N.E. Lincolnshire, we use 1m "stubby" lanes (1m wide, 1m long) just to keep to those very rules. Dont forget to have your cycling officer pay up for a new EPROM as surely the intergreens will need increasing(!). Its always good to help collegues in other sections spend their budgets, after all! (or at least put them off putting ASL's all over the place).
