Yes, In the past i've provided the start line to a cycle lane (diag. 1009= ) directly from the ACSL. This marks the start of the cycle lane. No min = length is required. -----Original Message----- From: tcug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:tcug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Terry Gardner Sent: 25 May 2005 13:40 To: 'tcug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [TCUG] Re: ASL Sharon, If you look at TSR&GD 2002, Regulation 43, Para 2 you will see that the regulation requires cyclists to reach the ASL by 'proceeding in the cycle= lane' so something has to be provided. You might also make your Cycling Officer aware that Reg 43 para 2b allows= vehicles to stop legally within the ASL (preferably not on top of the cyclist!) if they cannot stop at the first line. This situation does not bode well for the safety of cyclists and in my opinion you are doing them= a better and safer service by abandoning ASLs altogether.
