Hi Hussein ,

I actually got the pop up on the laptop and this is what I found weird. When I clicked o.k on the use windows explorer to view files I had 5 sections. Each section stated the ammount of storage and only one had some storage used. That was the removable drive on the phone. Every other folder had no used memory at all.

It is as if the phone memory is empty. That might explain the problem.

I can certainly send you the details of list if you wish. I don't want to take up your time though.

You have been extremely helpfull and it is appreciated,.

Kindest Regards, John

Hi John,

One more suggestion for the road. It's possible you may be in Data Transfer mode. To try to fix this, connect your phone to the computer once again by plugging in the USB cable. Visually, a list will pop up on the phone asking you what mode you want to connect in. Press up on the joypad and then enter. This will move you into, if you are in data transfer mode, PC Suite mode unless nokia have changed the options around.

The phone will remember what mode you were in the next time you connect. So you could repeat the above in theory until it works. By the law of averages one of the 3-4 modes should work through trying them all 'smile'.

Note: not all computers are configured with autorun enabled. Thus, you may be in data transfer mode without knowing it and it's just that Windows hasn't popped up the box asking what you want to do with the connected storage device.

Hi Hussein ,

I have a feeling there may be something strange going on with my phone.
When
I went into pc suite and found a way to go through the connection
process
you mentioned. At first it said for me to switch the phone from file
transfer mode and I would get a connection.

As there is no talks I pressed the top right soft key which appeared to
take
me out of that mode. I did get a message saying that my phone was
connected
via the usb cable.

I tried clicking on installations in the pc suite menu but there were
no
options to browse or anything. I then tried file transfer and the same
problem happened.

I think at this stage I need sighted help.

Thanks a million for your help Hussein . I'm heading for bed.lol

Kindest Regards, John

Hi John,

You could try connecting the phone again. Not sure which version of PC
Suite you have but there used to be a 'Get Connected' tab at the bottom
of
the main window. This would take you through the connection process
again.

Another option is to install Talks on the phone as a demo. Can't
remember
what the default demo time is, but even if it's only ten minutes it
should
be enough to see you through any messages coming up on the phone whilst
trying to get it connected. You would connect the phone to the
computer
using Data Transfer mode. Then copy the talks file over, but rename it
zzz
or something keeping the extension the same. Then go to the File
Manager
(do you have the path from memory, or you could just use the keyboard
to
navigate to it). Then, in File Manager press the right joystick
button,
then up once and enter to start the install.

I know this sounds long-winded but try manually initiating the phone
connection from the PC suite side first.
