How do I set the number as the default Steve? I did not know I could do that. In the meantime while you are getting back to me I will open my contacts and Options and see if I get it there.

Hi Eleanor,

It will dial whatever number is your "default" number in the contact. It
won't give you the opportunity for other numbers. So if you want to use your
voice to dial their mobile, set it as the default.

All the best

Steve

Hmmmmmm, well I'm utterly gobsmacked people! I am certain I've tried this
before but to no avail. Anyway, Steve, yeah, it's simply soft key two
again. So, for others, some basic instructions.

For voice dialing from your address book, simply do the following:

1 ensure that you are on the standby screen.
2 Press and hold down soft key two until phone emits a short series of
tones. Let go of the key then clearly but naturally speak the name as
it is in the book.
3 Nokia tts should then replay the voice tag and you can confirm the name by
pressing key 1.
4 Phone will then dial number.

As easy as that!

One slight thought is that I think when I did it before, I was using a non
active standby. For the last few months, I've been using the active screen.
I wonder if this could have anything to do with it? Probably not smiles!

Steve

 Hi Steve,

I don't have an N85, but does it have a special voice comms key? Try
holding the multimedia key for example.

 All the best

 Steve

Hi Steve, this is an interesting one. I've wanted to do the same but
haven't found out how to either. I've done everything except ring Nokia
smiles. That'll be on the cards sometime too!

With both my N82 and N95 I can simply press and hold down soft key 2 until it bleeps and say a contact name. The phone responds and dials the number. You can also do the same for key commands or aps. This though doesn't seem
to be the case with the N85. If anyone knows anything then please do post
it to the list.

Hi folks, does anyone know if it's possible to use voice dialing on the
N85? I haven't done this before, but I think it's where you can simply say
"home" or something like that and the voice command will recognise the
command and start dialing. I think you have to assign each command with the
contact of course. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, cheers
Steve.
