Why would you want a different access point for incoming and another for outgoing Steve? -original message- Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Sending Email From Phone. From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 21/01/2010 1:31 pm Hi Charles, Go into Messaging, then Options, then Settings, then Email settings, then select your account, and under the outgoing Email option, check that your correct access point is selected for connecting. You can have a different access point for incoming and outgoing Email. Hi, I am a Talks user and remember discussions on this list a while back, possibly between Steve Nutt and Eleanor Burke, regarding issues with sending Email from a mobile phone. I am with Virgin Media, with an NTLWORLD Email account and I tried to set this up on my Nokia N96. I input all necessary details for the account as I would for a PC client, including the incoming mail server being pop.ntlworld.com and the outgoing mail server being smtp.ntlworld.com. The issue is that I can receive Email on my phone from this account, yet if I try to reply from my phone or send a new Email message, it does not work. |I am continually asked for my Email password, which is entered correctly and saved to the phone, then I get an error message saying that I cannot connect to the network. I think Eleanor was having much the same issues and Steve suggested a 3 digit number for the outgoing server. If anyone can remember or can shed any light on this, it would be gratefully appreciated. I Contacted Virgin Media and they said that their Email accounts will soon be transferred to a Google platform and, after that, mail could be sent from a mobile. There must be a workaround somewhere, but they did not have any idea of it. By the way, Steve or Neil, are there any indications as to when we might see the next release of Talks, considering that Mobile Speak 4 is due to release shortly and is set to work on touch screen phones like the Nokia N97?
