Hi, well they are stilling from the pension fund. They just did it this
session. I know I was there. Now if Gov Crist does not veto this they are
going to cut the interest come July 1 2010 from 6.5 percent interest paid to
drop persons who is retired people, to 3 percent. This is a saving they
think around 10 mill. This goes for those that has not went in the drop yet
and will go in the drop after July 1 2010. So I encourage everyone to email
the people Governor of Florida telling him to veto this bad part of the
budget. Just remember the legislature can do anything they want and it is up
to the people to take it to court and get it over turned. There is nothing
they can or can not do. This is a fact. This comes from someone that has
been working with them 30 years now. I have seen it all. This being said and
this is my thoughts I will not respond to anything on this subject on list.
For you never know who is watching and checking up on you. Even though this
is not my real name, things still can be found out by them.

Hi Darla,

The legislature here in Florida cannot steal from the pension fund because
it's not theirs any longer. they set it up as an independent entity, the
Florida Retirement system, run by an independent board of governors, and
they pay them, just as they would pay any service provider, our contribution
each month.

Now, if the FRS invested it really badly (as did happen in Orange county
California), and they couldn't afford to pay us in the future because of
that, the state is obligated to us to come up with the shortfall, and who's
to say at such a time whether they could or not, so nothing's guaranteed;
but as far as stealing from the fund, it's not possible is my understanding.

Chip

Dear Chip,

Id be welling to say your pensions aren't as safe as you think they are.

For years, the government of Missouri has been stealing from the blind
pension fund; getting the pension back on track just passed its first
hurdle--hopefully the last hurdle--but an appeal very well may take place.
