POSITION SUMMARY:
The Residence Director will report to the Associate Director of Housing- 
Residence Life, under the umbrella of the Associate Vice President for 
Enrollment & Student Services and will assume a leadership role in establishing 
a living-learning environment wherein students can grow academically, 
culturally, and personally.  This individual will develop, based on assessed 
needs and stated goals, a detailed program of action.  Job responsibilities 
will be comprised of the following essential elements: student development, 
efficient administration, and departmental administrative relationships and 
responsibilities.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

  *   Establishes rapport with residents and executes a planned program of 
events
  *   Promotes interaction among students through social, recreational, and 
leisure activities
  *   Creates an atmosphere which promotes academic excellence and achievement
  *   Supervises and trains residence hall staff
  *   Supervises front desk operation 24/7 days a week
  *   Advises Hall Government and related committees
  *   Conducts weekly meetings with residence hall staff and bi-monthly 
meetings with individual RA’s
  *   Monitors student conduct /provides prompt administration of matters 
pertaining to student misconduct
  *   Administers University policies and regulations
  *   Assists in the administration of summer programs and publication 
revision/development
  *   Serves as referral agent regarding building maintenance
  *   Coordinates/supervises room assignments, check-in & out, and related 
billings
  *   Maintains accurate weekly occupancy reports
  *   Monitors budget expenditures that pertain to hall government & Resident 
Assistant programming needs
  *   Additional responsibilities as assigned

Remuneration consists of a twelve-month contract, competitive starting annual 
salary plus furnished apartment, high-speed internet connection, local phone, 
cell phone with data package, digital cable television connection with DVR, 
meal plan and 20 days annual vacation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree; previous residence hall staff experience; excellent written 
and oral communication skills; excellent customer service skills; and ability 
to work with a diverse group of people

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Student Personnel or related field; and residence 
hall/apartment management or supervisory experience
