Hi, this most likely will not help all of you, but for me, the backslash (and all the other special characters) are exactly were they belong. I am using a German TOS (2.06) and have set the keyboard language to german. The backslash is located at SHIFT + ALT + Ü, exactly where it was on the original german Atari ST keyboard. I don't know if this rule works if you use an english pc keyboard, english TOS, set keyboard language to english and try the same key combination as on a real ST keyboard.
