But of all these pieces of mailing etiquettes which are followed by most
mailing lists in free and open source projects and related discussions, the
most vigorously championed is on prohibiting top-posting, citing *inversion
of logical flow* as the reason. The flames rise high if the discussion in an
ongoing one, which has multiple fronts opened on technical issues.
I had intervened in one such *flame* on *top-posting* requesting moderators
to be a bit more moderate so that new-comers are not scared away from
bringing out an opinion. The flame then got directed towards me and I think
the moderators were right. I was happy that I saved a beginner by having
re-directed the flame.
