Hi fellow members, I wish to add my voice on this issue although I am
not an authority on the subject.
To mme, renewal of these tax exemmption certificates is necessary,
mandatory and the only way of minimizing corruption on this issue.
Matters of tax exception means money! The cetificate u get equals a
certain amont of money which the governmment has exempted u from
paying but ought to paid.
How many other Kenyans do u thing would have wished to get such an
exemption and would do anything including bribery to have their way
out! I think let's co-operate with the the laid down proceedures as
citizens of this country. Being a person with disability does not make
u and me lesser or special citizens! So according to me, although my
disability is permenent and may not change unless by miracles, the
renewal of tax exemmption certificates is necessary to close any loop
holes ghat may be used to still money from the government.
As for the council, i appealed to our fellow persons with disabilities
who are lawyers, law experts, or those in position to influence action
on this issue, to pressurrize the government to speedly apoint the new
board which should be chaired by a person with disability including
but not limitted to her director.
You see fellow members/colleague, kenyans are very good at seeing
money even with closed eyes!
Last but not least, my wish would be to urge the government to expand
the bracket of the tax exemption and if possible include other forms
of taxes which touch on trade, import and export, withholding taxes
ETC.
These are my personal views subject to criticism or suport.
