Do you allow your girls to eat the afterbirth or not, what things to have
on hand and etc. What temperature to have a room at and do you also use a
heat lamp. Just remember back to your first time and you will know what I
am going through. lol. I have talked to some breeders already but just
want to get some more input.
1. I do let them eat 3 or 4 afterbirths....any more she will be so loose
boweled.
2. Remember something important....crying puppies are cold, not hungry. A
warm puppy could die of
starvation and never make a sound. Judge your room temp by how they
act....if they are always spread
out and not lying together, they are very warm.
3. I use a room heater only to gage heat and keep it between 75-78 for
the first 3 weeks
4. Keep warm sterile water on hand.........and old vet told me if the sac
breaks and you are dealing with
a dry birth, use a 6 cc syringe, be sure the water is warm and put a
couple of syringes of water into the
canal....pup will slide out.
5. Personally, I always xray the week before. I want to know what I am
dealing with.
Sure many others have covered greater ground. Just some of the things that
jump out at me.
