 know some people are running who should NOT be on the Board...and 
others who would be wonderful.

There are people who were nominated by the nominating committee to run for 
offices that have never been on the board - have no idea how the board 
functions while experienced people brought by some committee members did not 
even get the courtesy of having their names discussed.

Take a look at the list who the board nominated for the 2006 judging slate. All 
I am quite sure very nice people but some who hardly ever judge. It takes a 
knowledgeable and experienced person to to handle and keep control of classes 
the size of some at the national and do it for 2-3 days.

This is why there are so many people running
