Edie, You hit the nail on the head when you stated that the "man at the top" (in Germany) actually controls breed type. Indeed the last man at the top has changed and we will probably see more changes. Remember bringing back first Shepherd from Germany in 1957. Didn't know it but he was competitive in the show ring. Joe Poepping of Bel Vista Kennel said "show him" by now he was 8 years old, won second in the Veteran Class under knowledgeable judge Reginald Cleveland to the GV Ch Bonnie Bergere (sp?) of Kenrose. Joe ended up breeding one of his lovely line bred Hessian Bitches to him. In those days the German Dogs were competitive. Then big changes. I think Lance of Fran-Jo is about 3/4ths German Pedigree, Lance was the big influence for giving us the lovely top line and graceful motion we all love. Lance was a Happening one seldom sees. Certainly Ch Bernd v Kallergarten was very competitive. What about GV Brix vd Krafenkrone, great motion, beautiful shoulder, was the foundation for the great Waldesruh line behind so many winning dogs?. Forgive the spelling, (help me Helen Fisher) it's been too many years. Happy and Safe Holidays to Everyone Nancy Harper in not so warm Atlanta. ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2004.
