I wish I could give you some advice. I am not familiar with knee injuries in
dogs.
However after nearly 40 years of living with GSD, I can tell you when ever I
had to make that decision, I knew it from deep within. Each time I faced
that dreaded day I knew it was time because my dog was telling me in one way
or another.
You are the judge of the quality of life for you dog. You are also the judge
of how much you are able to do in assisted living, special diet,
medications, any number of things a particular dog may need for each
situation.
I have had a dog look at me in a certain way, and I then knew it was time
for that final decision. To me it is the final gift I can give to them for
all they have given to me over the years. I have had good vets who have
either come to my home or let me stay with them in his office, to pet them,
talk to them and give them reassurance of your love for them, as they slip
away. The dogs feel more comfortable with me being there I am sure.

Beryl Eshom.....with many wonderful GSD waiting at the bridge.
