A little word of caution on the Furminator, it works great, BUT, the coat HAS
to be clean and works best if a conditioner is also used.  It prevents from
hurting the outer coat, which one can literally put a hole into if the dog is
not freshly bathed and conditioned.

If a bath can not be given but the undercoat is coming loose a high powered
dryer will get rid of a lot of that hair without having to do all the
raking/combing.  Of course the best way is to give a really good bath, use the
zoomgroom to pull out as much hair during the bath as possible and then blow
dry the dog.  I have a very very plush male that I do this with and just did
last sunday and after his bath and blow had very little raking left.

I have two bitches with *extremely* plush coats. Not real long guard
hairs, but
rather super thick undercoats. (When parting the hair, it's tough to
see
skin.) When they blow coat, I can barely get a rake through the
coat. It is
actually impossible to get a rake through some areas and I end up
"plucking" the undercoat as it surfaces. This takes forever!

If anyone knows a "trick" for grooming such plush-coated dogs,
I'd love to hear about it. (Bathing and blow drying are out for right
now.)
Thanks in advance.

Paulette,
Both Forest and Tabu are VERY plush-coated. I like using a metal comb
with them. You can get a lot more hair out that way than by using any
kind of a brush. Other people say that the "furminator" (is that the

name?) pulls out the whole undercoat by just brushing the dogs once.
