In addition to the issues Lee brings up, there's absolutely no way to keep it clean. Ughhhhh.... I've been using carpet for over 30 years without a problem although for the first week or til the navel heals completely, i place a clean blanket over the carpet. The blankets can be washed easily My whelping box doesn't have a bottom so its very easy to replace the blankets and carpet when necessary. The boxs lays on top of the blanket and caepet so there is no chance of a puppy getting lost under the blanket.
