Chips work as good as the people who use the scanners. Some vets check all
their animals, some don't. Most shelters I've volunteered with have a
scanner and know how to use it. Some don't have scanners. And in some
shelters, the
staff doesn't know how to use them. We have done 2 fund raisers to
equipped 2 of the local, smaller, shelters with scanners. It does make a
difference.
All the guys at home are chipped, the dogs, and the cats. I started to chip
everyone, my home guys and my rescues, after an experience at work, where
someone brought in a found dog, and we scanned him and found the owners. The
happiness of that family was all the advertising I needed.
