Cindy, I think an apology is in order.....
Let me explain!
The Board let him make a presentation before voting on him, then voted
him in and let him know. Later, after much pressure from the
membership and the list, they saw that they had made some procedural
errors and, in effect, declared that vote null and void. While that
was the right thing to do, it did give a false hope to Mr. Hunte. So
it was explained to him, and the situation was rectified. For that
error in procedure and false vote, I think I would apologize to him.
That being said, no other concession is warranted regardless of the
pressures or feeling of threat. It seems so convoluted, complex and
filled with passion and legal wrangling, but it is really simple. One
person has applied for membership. The board should now vote on that,
given the correction of the procedural errors - and if affirmed, he is
a member. If not, he is not! What he does about it or how he reacts to
it is not our decision to make. Simple..... Darn! Where's George
Patton when you need him?
