Poodles are believed to have originated in Germany, not France, from Wat=
er Spaniels, which implicates Spanish origin, also. =
They were, and are, Retrievers. =
They were first known as Pudelhunds, but, understanding the average Engl=
ish-speaking person's inability of, and lack of interest in, proper enun=
ciation of other languages, their name became Poodle.
I don't believe the United States of America Air Force would agree with =
your "sissy" statement. But, then, many people believe we have made the=
American-style GSD into sissies, also.
That is my dog trivia of the day.
