I agree with you on this.   I have no idea of what a rear pastern  is, 
maybe that should have been shown in an illustration?

Is there a reason for making fun?  I know many people who  refer to the 
hock as the rear pastern.

I think the important part is  that the UKC standard is addressing a 
serious functional issue.
