I found this an interesting post, after a call I got yesterday from a
current board member.
I was told that our reserves are now under $400,000 and we have to put down
a deposit on the location for the World Trials of $200,000.00. I was also
told as of yesterday we had no commitments for sponsors for the event and
had not yet arranged the streaming video, (that is supposed to be a large
income producer for the club). I was further told there were internal
problems with the WDA the host organization for the World Trials. We are over
two years into this commitment.
I raise these issues to obtain imput and discussion. I know I am not the
official voice of our club, but I feel a free flow of information is
important. Everyone might have a piece of the information, or might just have
an
opinion. We need to discuss this.
I remember being told that our reserves should be equal to one year
budget. It used to be over $800,000.00. If we are losing this much money we
need to stop the spending, not just raise the revenues. Gee, that sounds
familiar. If we lose money on the Review, the National, the awards, the
Futurity, or any and every other expenditure, drop it! We need the GSDCA to
continue to exist to protect the breed. No matter what the reason, or the
excuse, existance if the first priority.
Let's discuss this, talk to the board members, find out what the truth is,
and help find a solution.
