Kathy,

Thanks for the input, you make some points that certainly should be considered.

 A couple of thoughts!!!

a. Yes there are shows nearly every weekend, but perhaps by having a 4 show
weekend, we can
  1. Limit the number of weekends that we have to plan for specialities
  2. If there happen to be All Breeds that weekend  then having 4 shows on one
weekend vs 2 All Breeds might be a more powerful allure to the Exhibitor who is
weighing their choices.

b. Cost of Claremont site: Perhaps if we can promise them more weekends then
the 1 weekend that SBR/Riverside holds the show we could negotiate a better
price. We won't know until we ask.

c. You are correct i meant 4 show weekend and not 4 days of showing.

I really believe that we as a specialty group of GSD show people have the same
goal and i think if we put our heads togethor and share these ideas and are
willing to take some chances we can stand a chance to turn this around
somewhat. But doing the same thing will not lead to different results.

Best, Bill

I agree with you Bill on much of this.
But a couple of points...
Not having a specialty within 500 miles will eliminate a lot of potential
weekends for Specialties.
The Claremont site IS terrific..problem though, from what I understand it is
VERY expensive to rent.
This may make it impossible for clubs w/o a big obedience entry to afford.
I like the site personally, except for the RVs
parked always right next to the entrance gate, (which makes it a LOOONG walk
for people schlepping dogs in vans)
Local judges, don't work well very often, for a variety of reasons...right
on that.

I am not sure a 4 day show weekend is cost efficient, unless you meant 4
show weekends..four nights in a hotel ?   hmmmm
Maybe we are talking about 4 shows in two days or ?

I like the Regional specialties.  I also really liked what OC/ LB did with
two shows on one day and Sunday home.
It was very nice to have the Sunday to just chill...or travel if you were
traveling.

You are right, clubs have to pay attention to whom they select to judge.
Often we see "incompatible "  judges, that limit the entry to one
day or the other.    It would be a good idea not to  keep getting the "same
ole , same ole"  some clubs do...I know the Nationals is sure
guilty of this...after awhile the zzzzzz factor sets in..."oh yeah Him/ Her
again"    New faces , provisionals , what-have-you, always pique
interest.

I don't have the answers..wish I did.    We support the judges when we feel
it is a good idea to do so.  But I can tell you for sure,
gone are the days that we go to a show, just for the sake of getting a dog
in the ring.   We also don't go only for one judge, most
times.

Just thinking out loud.
Kathy
