Yes, I do realize that this is the way to go. I was just flabbergasted over
the amount of dogs one would show. I suppose that's where the difference
begins with those who can and those who cannot. Normally I would show one
dog at a time which suited me fine and it was affordable. But the handlers'
Fees have gone up, too. So, $500.- would not even be enough to cover the
expenses for one weekend, perhaps $1000.- would be a better figure. Me and
John Doe could not afford that. Times have changed!

a member of club that does do 4 shows in a 2 day weekend, I don't think
they are any more exhausting than the way we used to do specialties.
When I got into showing Shepherds, this was a typical specialty weekend:
Get to the show grounds in time to set the rings and do all the other
necessary things before an 8 AM show time. Show dogs until 5 PM (yes, there
were that many dogs), tear down the show site. Go somewhere for a show
dinner. Then get up the next morning in order to drive at least 2 hours to
set up your own stuff before starting to show at 8 AM. Again showing to 5
PM with a 2 hour drive home. All that for only 2 sets of points.
Now, we set up Friday evening. The first show doesn't start until 9 AM the
next morning. The second show of the day is over by 4 PM and we have had
two sets of points. The show site stays in place and we repeat it the next
day.
I find it much preferable to the old way and we get 4 sets of points,
ususally all majors.
