She had AKC papers only on the GSs she bred. although she called them Shilohs.
Not all of the Shilohs in the rare breed shows were huge and hairy. Some were
quite obviously GDs the could not win in AKC so the owners called them Shilohs
and entered in rare breed shows. The same is true for the King Shepherd..

Tina read all of the hip xrays, at one point.
In 1995, Tina was addressed by the ARBA Board for still having AKC papers on
her Shilohs. I was at the meeting. How can she have AKC papers (as GSDs)
if other breeds were introduced years before??????
Years ago (90s), someone sent me a video they made while touring her place.
Made me sad and sick to see the mess and some of the dogs in the video.

I lived about an hour away from Tina in the 70s-80s and she had quite a few
AKC German shepherds, before she re-invented herself and called the breed
"Shilohs." Shiloh was originally her kennel name. She had a gorgeous
champion named Gunsmoke that somebody let her have and I remember thinking
that even in his senior years, that dog was MAJESTIC. Tina was subsequently
thrown out of the AKC because, I think, she was saying all her puppies were
sired by "Smoke," which they were not. Someone blew her in, which was a
GOOD thing. Fred Lanting judged a match there and he gave a lecture on HD.
He was stumping for his then new book on HD. I was there. NO ONE health
tested back then--just x-rayed hips. I still remember how beautiful that
champion was--the look of eagles!

The Shiloh Shepherd became plagued with so many health issues (reason the
King Shepherd came about) that they should be doing all that "extra"
testing. I believe the Shiloh breed is in better hands now, and these
breeders want the Shiloh to thrive.
Too bad the founder didn't do all those health tests in the beginning.

I can remember as recent as the 80s she was buying oversized, coated GSDs
from anybody that would sell her one (Linda Brown). Then there was a whole
big dust up in their ranks...rumors of different breeds brought in, could
be shown in this venue but not that...years ago (80s?), i didn't follow it
all that closely, maybe someone can fill in the blanks. My overall
impression was just a big, shaggy GSD w/ no type, often questionable
temperament.
After the dust up, to my way of thinking, things improved. Still
waaaayyyyyy oversized, but some are typey and temperament has certainly
improved.
I will say this, the Shilo people I have encountered on various
reproductive lists put very many our GSD breeders to shame with all of the
health
testing they do before they consider breeding anything. TO SHAME! My
goodness
they test the hell out of those dogs and boy do they spend money on all
things reproductive...freezing/implants, not just progesterone but LH...and
I'm
thinking for what? I mean they have their own registry...I has to be a
passion and kudos to them for the extensive health testing.
On a personal note, funny story sort of, Solo has a long coated brother.
The first time the family took him to be groomed, the groomer insisted he
was a Shilo. Anyway...I thought it was funny.
