I'm with Penny on this one--only for a different reason... I hope to breed
more than I buy. If the Futurities/Maturities were restricted to the regions
in which the sire/dam live, I wouldn't get to see what studs are producing in
different regions of the country or evaluate potential breeding stock from
these other regions. Of course, the National provides this opportunity, but
it's not always feasible to travel to the National. (Although I do hope to
attend as many Nationals as possible.)

Restrict the futurities to the regions in which the Sire/Dam lived at
time of whelping, and the contiguous regions. That takes it back to
the original premise of showing what is being bred in what area.

The idea listed above wouldn't work for people like me, who do not
breed as much as BUY their puppies. For example, I've bought a few
dogs from my friend (and reputable breeder) Sharon Todoroff, who
happens to live in Minnesota. I live in NY. If the puppies had to be
shown in the region that Minnesota's in, it just wouldn't happen.
