What were the requirements when the futurities were first implemented ? Â I
seem to
remember that anyone the club selected could judge. Â It was to be a breeders'
showcase; Â top breeders were chosen, sometimes handlers. Â Perhaps over-
regulation
is hurting our futurities; After all, who cares if the person in the middle of
the ring
has been a ring steward. Â Geesh ! Â Wonder if the same judges who judge our
specialties
are judging our futurities might be a bit over-kill.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Requirements to Judge a Futurity
The requirements are not as complicated as applying for a judges license.
Here is the criteria to judge a Futurity.
A.   Exhibited German Shepherd Dogs for a minimum of 10 years.
B.   Bred 2 German Shepherd Champions and exhibited at least one (1)
other German
Shepherd to its AKC Championship while being the owner of record. (Total of 3
AKC
Champions)
C.   Attended a GSDCA judgeâs seminar and have a certificate verifying
attendance.
D.   Stewarded at 2 of the following events:
a.   AKC Specialty shows
b.   a supported entry at All Breed shows
c.   a GSDCA Futurity/Maturity.
E.   Judged a minimum of four (4) AKC German Shepherd Club Matches
and/or
Sweepstakes.
You may substitute one (1) of the following for one of the four (4) required
AKC
matches and/or Sweepstakes:
a.    Judged 25 dogs or more at an AKC Sanctioned All Breed match with
documentation provided; OR
b.    Bred five (5) or more German Shepherd Dog Champions of which two
(2) are
exhibited to their AKC Championship while being an owner of record; OR
c.    Judged a Canadian National.

The German Shepherd Dog Club of New Haven received the bid for the 2013 NE
futurity. Would all Northeast Clubs send me some names of people who
might be interested in judging the show. The criteria to judge the show is

same as applying to become a judge. The AKC website will give you the
criteria for judging. Before submitting the names to me, you need to verify
their interest in judging.
