I would not like it if the nine regions were represented by a group of people
all from the mid-west., The best example I can point to is the idea to change
the 2012 national from Colorado in late Sept to Purina Farms in the last 2
weeks
of November. There was no consideration given to those folks that would have to
drive over the Rockies in late November. We need our directors from all over
the
USA. We need to study each region and find out why the area in the Pacific
Northwest pulls larger entries than other parts of the country with fewer
breeders and fewer handlers. We need input from each and every region. As a
resident of the Northwest how would I know the needs of the folks in Florida.
Yes I agree it is one breed and one breed club but the breed club is the sum
total of the regional clubs and they are dying.

Pat took the words right out of my mouth before I could get them typed into a
post. Terry's idea of 9 directors is excellent, but I agree with Helen & Pat
that it would be very hard and almost impossible to get a person running for
the
board in each region. Pat has a very workable reasonable way to handle this
though. I would be very supportive to have something of this nature presented
to the Board for very serious future consideration.

I totally agree with addressing the current difficult financial issues
first. However, going forward changes such as reduction of Directors require
a
process that also takes time, which we as a club can begin to address. We
definitely need to elect the best possible candidates regardless of region.
Therefore representation by region is not really possible except if by
chance. I suggest the nine Directors that are 'elected' regardless of region
be assigned a region (those that actually live in a region would of course
get their region - if more than one per region are elected then a drawing
between those would determine the representative). Perhaps regions not
represented by an elected Director living in that region are decided by a
drawing.
Then going forward each regional Director would be given a listing of all the
clubs and their contacts in their area in order to really represent the
membership of our club and have a better understanding of what is needed for
their specific region. Just thinking outside the box. I believe all ideas
should be brainstormed by our membership as that's the way to good ideas.
