Well sure:)
Personally I want to breed to the standard but I don't have a problem with
someone breeding a healthy, good tempered dog to a healthy, good tempered
bitch (hopefully they have wonderful homes lined up!), and maybe getting
closer with what they have to an "ideal", recognizing that "ideal" can in
the eye of the beholder. I've done several of those w/ my boys and maybe not
every puppy had enough front/rear for the breed ring but they were/are
healthy and happy.
People have all sorts of reasons to breed...I get judgmental when they
don't do health checks (and/or are oblivious of health issues in the breed),
can't/don't/won't take proper care of their bitch/puppies and/or dump
puppies they can't place.
That said, I usually want to hold something back for me, I evaluate the
litter based on the least puppy and truth be told, properly raising and
socializing a litter....again, for me...is wwwwwaaaaayyyyy to much work to take
on with the goal of placing an entire litter in companion homes.
