It is possible for a small 'knukle'" of bowel to get trapped in the hernia,
if it is
large enough. Usually, what you feel is Omentum (fatty apron that covers
the bowel).
If you can 'reduce' the hernia by pushing gently on it with a finger, you
are OK.
If you cannot, then have the Vet check it right away. A large hernia can
'stangulate'
bowel.......however, it is very rare.
