I was thinking the same thing... And I would be willing to bet the majority of
novice dog owners (by the phone calls I get from puppy buyers), do NOT know the
difference. And, even though my last post was rather harsh, I do happen to
believe the vast majority of behavior problems are caused by ignorant owners.
For example, I was at my in-laws on Christmas Day. God!! Do people save up
all their stupid questions for the "dog lady" to come over or what? My
sister-in-law's dog had a bandage on it's paw and she asked me to look at it.
I couldn't even get near the dog's foot without it growling and snapping. My
SIL says to get back quick. She said that if the dog doesn't like something,
it's warning is to growl and then it will bite so Be Careful! This was a lab,
btw. I said, "You're kidding me?" She looks at me like I'M the nutty one and
says that's normal for a dog to do. She asked what my dogs would do, since
they're GSDs and
naturally more mean, if I do something like take food or toys away from them?
I told her they better not growl at me if they wanted to keep their teeth! The
looks on the rest of my in-laws' faces were priceless!! LOL!! I'm the "evil"
dog lady now, I guess!!!

The subject has somehow evolved, from a rogue dog that has consistently killed
other animals, to normal pack and/or protective behavior!! I wonder how many
people even know the difference? Scary!

Guess it no longer matters because tomorrow is essentially over.
One thing I would like to say about aggression in my "pack", I GET THE
WINNER.....He / She then has to deal with me.
NO DOG IS 100% COMPATIBLE WITH ANOTHER DOG !!!!!
