Sally you hit it on the head. If the right handler does not come along, death,
sadly, may be the only choice for this dog, and for many like him.
I am lucky I got Bertha back, so is she. If the idiot I foolishly sold her to
had sold her away from me, she would surely be dead by now, having bit anyone
or another animal, she was dangerous and I don't consider her safe now either.
We love her, she is the sweetest thing, but she still has that pack bound
attitude towards new people, and she must be managed as such.

The problem as I see it is finding the person who is capable of handling a
dog with these problems. Certainly not the average dog owner
