Hi, Kathy.
The monthly charge is for unlimited Internet use, and the modem goes into
the PC Slot on your laptop. I also have a Handleld (HP iPaq) that has a
similar kind of modem, and so can get and send email from anywhere I can get
a cellular signal. The name of the technology is GPRS, so if you go out
looking for that, that is what to ask for - a GPRS Modem and Unlimited
Internet Service for it.
Mine is with T-Mobile. Cingular calls it "Edge". I have heard that
Verizon's network is higher speed GPRS network than the others, but it is
more expesive ($59.95 / mo). It is called VCAST.
It really IS terrific - opens up a whole new world of communication. I have
had both for almost a year now, recommend it highly. If anyone has any
