I had mine tattoo marked on the inner thigh before the chips. I'm still
wondering by the way you mention it,
as if you'd not do it at all if it weren't for these inspections etc.??
Oh, I had thorough records as well and
did all I could to try to know where my dogs were. I felt very responsible
as they wouldn't be here if I
hadn't bred them. I was quite blessed to be able to board them as a way to
watch some of the pet ones.
Of course quite a few were in S & R as well as working with the police and
at a prison. I had several
assistance dogs that the people would report to me now and again too. Norma

What do you mean by saying that we microchip "to keep AKC happy"?
I sure didn't do my chipping for Mother AKC but for my own satisfaction;

I recently had an AKC inspection of my dogs and my records - one of the
first things she did was ask about Microchips - and then checked several of
my dogs to see that the microchip could be found, read and matched what I
had in my records - I record my chip numbers right on the AKC papers - upper
right hand corner and she was thrilled with that - I also keep an
independent list - incase something happens to (a) my computer and (b) my
paper hard copy . . . but some form of identification is required - tattoo
or microchip . . . maybe collars with Tags (of coarse most?show people don't
keep collars on their dogs)??? Barb
