I'm still wondering by the way you mention it,?
as if you'd not do it at all if it weren't for these inspections etc.??
I never said that nor did I imply that - I think it's an excellent thing to do
in case a dog is lost - but with the AKC requirements the question is almost
not worth asking . . . . .

What do you mean by saying that we microchip "to keep AKC happy"??
I sure didn't do my chipping for Mother AKC but for my own satisfaction;?

I recently had an AKC inspection of my dogs and my records - one of the first
things she did was ask about Microchips - and then checked several of my dogs
to see that the microchip could be found, read and matched what I had in my
records - I record my chip numbers right on the AKC papers - upper right hand
corner and she was thrilled with that - I also keep an independent list -
incase something happens to (a) my computer and (b) my paper hard copy . . .
but some form of identification is required - tattoo or microchip . . . maybe
collars with Tags (of coarse most?show people don't keep collars on their
dogs)??? Barb?
