Sorry I am so late with this. It is always special for the dogs as well as
me to get back home and re-acquainted with them. And then there are a few
surprises waiting for you which need to be taken care of immediately. Oh
well!
As far as the party is concerned I think it was a huge success and I want to
thank those wonderful people who have been working hard to make it so. There
was Hallie McMullen doing a great job as an "auctioneer", Marjery Golant
donating all the goodies and reserving the bar area for our party, Lee Ealy
who was not even one of the list Committee members but offered her help
wherever needed, Ileana taking care of the money intake, and last but not
least our Junior handler Roni Dollar picking the numbers out of the bag and
doing everything else asked of her.
On behalf of the list committee I want to thank everyone who donated all the
wonderful gifts, and there were good ones, buying raffle tickets or simply
just supporting this event. It was wonderful seeing all these listers
folding in, we even ran out of chairs and had to get some more from the
restaurant. As far as getting to know everyone there the name tags helped
somewhat but could not be read well. So the next time we use markers instead
of pens.
The fun part was to find out how much money we generated. Ileana counted it
first, then Margery and myself. We came up with exactly $795.00. I knew this
was not going to do, just $5.- short of $800.- So, I asked for another
donation of $5.- and lo and behold this young man pulled a 5 and waved it
in the air. Wished I knew his name.
Yes, folks, we made $800.- which was handed over to Margery to pass on to
German Shepherd Rescue. This party proofed that we can do more important
things than getting angry with each other on the list. I also want to thank
Dan Smith for supplying me with a beer when I needed it most, never tasted
better.
It was fun, and for me it was one of the highlights of the National.
Once again, our sincere thanks to all of you who contributed one way or
another. Lets do it again in Colorado!
