First question: Did you sell him on a contract saying you would refund
payment if they returned the dog?
If not, contact AKC and explain the situation to them. They will probably
issue new papers to you.
In the past I have had two situations in which puppies were not being taken
care of properly. I went onto the property and took the dogs....(this was a
young couple that were getting divorced and left the dogs chained in a wood
shed, with no care). The husband refused to relinquish the registration
papers...
so I called AKC, told them the situation, and they issued new papers in my name.
