Attention Fellow Breeders & Fanciers:


Your help is urgently needed a legal case that affects all breeders & fanciers 
in New Jersey & beyond.

Local German Shepherd fancier & hobby breeder Danielle Weitz is appealing a 
decision by the Borough of Franklin Lakes that has the potential to shut down 
hobby breeders in NJ and across the country.

The judge found this hobby breeder guilty based on the following:

1.  Guilty of operating a “commercial business”  - the prosecutor used 
the online AKC breeder profile as evidence against her because it states the 
breeder will provide a “bill of sale” to a puppy buyer.

2.  Guilty of operating a “commercial kennel” in a residential 
neighborhood –
      therefore violating local zoning laws.

3.  Guilty of “failure to apply for a commercial kennel license” – there 
is no way any local home hobby breeder could meet the requirements of 
commercial kennel licensure ) impervious concrete facility flooring, industrial 
fire & sprinkler systems, air handling systems, drainage, etc.)

ADDITIONALLY – THE JUDGE IMPOSED:

A.     Mandatory inspections of her home and dogs every 30 days by health 
dept officials & animal control.



B.     She must prove she is NOT breeding via these inspections.



Even selling one puppy through the local paper or online is evidence of 
operating a “business”.
