Pat is so right ! Â Regional representation is without rhyme or reason for this
board. Â I am all for the cut in the board....... would, perhaps like to see it
cut even more. Â Representation by regions is ludicrous. Â We have
regional representation in the government of this great country: Â the House
and the Senate. Â Look what
they have brought upon us.  BTW,  most  are re-elected by name recognition.
 Let's not do that to this club

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] GSDCA BYLAWS PROPOSAL
I'll presume the posts favoring directors from each region is a knee-jerk
reaction resulting from the decision to hold the national 3 years in a row at
Purina. My question is what if there is no one qualified in a certain
region willing to run for the Board? What do you do then? How would you set
up the voting for each region? I can only imagine what that ballot would look
like. The fact that our club is in serious financial straits is the REASON
for those decisions, as is the reason for reducing the number of directors.
I am with those who want the BEST possible directors willing to serve
regardless of region. I'm sure those decisions by our Board trying to
protect
our club were difficult. Unfortunately when you have to make the hard
decisions (some that have been very unpopular) its for the continuation of the
club. If you use the analogy of a family budget which dictates that you
can't
spend more than you take in, it's just common sense that sometimes hard
decisions have to be made in order to survive. Our club is in a budget
crisis, and in order for the club to exist and continue to promote the breed we
love; we sometimes have to take steps that aren't always pleasant. I think
some people need to remember that our Board is strictly voluntary, and I'm
guessing their pay grade has got to be the envy of other breed clubsâ?¦ NOT!
