We have all "been there and done that".........the truth is, if a person
wants to learn about
German Shepherds and breeding/exhibiting, they will find a way to get the
information.
NO....an established kennel is NOT going to sell them a "hot show
prospect"....why would
they trust an "unknown". A busy exhibitor/breeder will take someone under
their wing and
teach them...IF they see a real effort being made to learn.
We have both been there, Terry. Maybe the first dogs aren't the
greatest....but you keep at it.
You go to shows....you keep your ears and eyes open........and you learn.
True dog people
didn't get there because some one "talks to them". It's a long involved
process....and you
"pay your dues" as the saying goes......it involves "the perfect litter by
pedigree" that turns out
being the mess of the century.....the gorgeous pup, with so much promise,
that dies suddenly.....
the feeling of finishing your first champion.....your first Group One, Best
in Show, or Select....
staying up all night whelping a litter........finding out your Top Ranked
bitch has breast cancer.....etc.
And then one day you realize that you have gained a wealth of knowledge
about this breed,
with your blood, sweat and tears and you are amazed by what you need to
learn yet........
but, you have stayed the course and you are ready for more.
This is a lifetime commitment.......a passion that most can not or will not
understand. If you
truly want it, it will come to you.
