Peggy and Lee are right.. GSD folks aren't the only double-handled breed, but
they are the MOST obvious about it. We double dals, I have doubled Sporting
dogs, Danes, Dobes, etc... I have also had people double dogs that won't bait,
etc... Most breeds don't do it while gaiting, mostly stacks or down/backs.
Personally, I have been run into and over, any number of times by GSD doublers.
Many years ago, when a dal specialty was at the same site as the GSDs, we
couldn't even get dogs up to ringside because of the doubling across the way.
There were a fair number of complaints and I know the Reps came down hard on
the GSD folks the rest of the weekend. I don't care if you want to double, but
look out for the other exhibitors and dogs!
As for my personal dog, she is trained to double and to bait... I know way too
many of the AKC Reps to put myself in a bad position of getting busted for
doubling (of course, right now they are in the state of shock of my showing a
GSD)...
