One test in never conclusive...and as stated...some can be
treated...retested and are fine...stress can be temporary a subtle illness
can be temporary..any number of mitgating factors can cause a temporary
problem...cross contamination of the culture as in failing to use a guarded
swab..failure to clean the sheath of a male before collecting thus allowing
the semen to cross over all kinds of micro-organisms can give false
positives..I never take one Dr.s opinion as the gospel..as stated..by
simply picking up the phone and calling my vet Bull was spared from 3
weeks of unnecessary treatment a treatment which could have ultimately
caused a problem. I would not encourage nor would I keep for myself any dog
that has had repeated treatments with reoccurrence..continued failures to
conceive..or conception that only happens while on antibiotics. these types
of animals should certainly raise ones eyebrows and make one give serious
thought as to the continued use of the animal in ones breeding program..it
would for me...but that is just me..I don't like problems..I don't like to
deal with problems..I think our breed was meant to be hardy, fertile, easy
breeders and conception should take place without a battalion of tests and
veterinarians involved and a grocery sack full of antibiotics.C.Grainger
