I completely agree with Theresa. I would think a service/therapy dog has to go
through extensive training. I know that to Allow a service dog you have to show
proof before boarding a plane. What kinda proof not sure. I do know a lot of
people tried to get away with it.
So yes I think people with service dogs should have proof with them that they
are indeed a service dog.
Then people will not be so daring to pull a fast one.

As a service dog handler, I vehemently disagree.
As for the dog stressing...how badly was it stressing? Stress is a part of
life, and sometimes I think we read too much into calming signals. If the
dog was hyperpanting, showing whites of the eyes, etc, I would say the
animal may not be suited for service work. I also think common sense
(which is not so common) is needed when utilizing one of these dogs.
I have my service dog with me about 98% of the time. The other 2% of the
time I am in situations where the dog either isn't necessary, would be a
hindrance, or I would be putting my dog in harm's way.
I love the Trans Siberian Orchestra. There is no way I would take my dog
to a TSO concert. The volume of the music, the pyrotechnics, and all the
screaming people are not something I wish to subject my dog to. Not
because he can't handle it, but because it is SO LOUD! I wouldn't want to
damage his hearing and risk having him stepped on in the arena while people
are dancing around.
Service dogs should be able to handle any situation presented to them, but
there are definitely times when even we SD handlers leave our dogs at home.
