OR...........we could leave our Standard as it is for having already created
the absolute best Breed
in the world as we continue to work on serious issues that REALLY need to be
overcome............<G>

me too, maybe we modify it to say something like:just something to think
  about

  our standard says this

color the gsd varies in color most colors are permissible strong rich
colors are preferred pale, washed out colors and blues or livers are serious
faults a white dog must be disqualified.

we could perhaps modify it to:

color the gsd varies in color most colors are permissible strong rich
colors are preferred, washed out colors and blues or livers are serious
faults.
dark eye rims, noses, nails and lips should be well pigmented and dark
  without signs of albinism.

here's what one wgsd club says about color, seems like we could work with
  this,
they want rich color too it seems

COLOR--ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, THE WHITER DOG IS TO BE PREFERRED. The White
German Shepherd Dog should have dark eyes, black lips, black eyelids, and a
black nose. Very dark solid noses are acceptable. A lighter nose must be
penalized as a minor fault, but does not disqualify a dog. A nose mildly
streaked or spotted with brown or pink is acceptable as a minor fault.
(Color
of nose may change slightly with estrus, cold weather, injury, and age.)
The more dark in color of the nails, the better, although white nails do not
disqualify a dog. Black, blue or grey skin is desirable, with the skin of
the belly being the darker area. Pink skin is frequently seen, and though
not a disqualification, is less desirable. The pads of the feet should be
  black.
