I need help from you who are so knowledgeable about genetics and color. I have one solid (very)black beautiful bitch who is now five weeks old. The other three puppies in the litter are black and red. Both parents obviously carry the black recessive. Would all three puppies carry the black recessive, too? One of the males is very dark black with red; the remaining male and female are not as dark pigmented. There is an obvious difference. I'm wondering if those two don't carry the black recessive since they aren't as dark. Can anyone fill me in on this? Thanks. Pat Castle Kennels, Ltd.
