Slide a tnreaded metal rod through and use nut bolts on each end. In the vent the crate door pops open (those metal pins that hold the door in are not safe enough)- the rod does the trick. Good tip...I use multiple, heavy duty "zip-strips". I think after 2009, it will all be a moot point anyway; by law, cargo and containers will have to be inspected, meaning getting there a LOT earlier, MUCH longer wait times, fewer flights that will even consider dogs and the whole prospect of flying an adult dog (cargo) will just be impractical.
