Gary, I loved the quote at the bottom. You are right. Some worry about
nitnoid stuff when there are glaring problems to be addressed. Like you we
could never "ok" mega in our lines. It astonishes me that some breeders
just accept it as the norm, and the "cost of doing business". It is
easily done away with, but you have to put your foot down and say NO MORE.
Like you, it is not "win at any cost" for us. It is produce a better German
Shepherd, and if you win along the way that is just the icing....
Remember dog shows are used to *evaluate breeding stock*....it is not we
have show dogs, first last and always, and hope the show dogs turn out to
be breeding stock as the "icing" Sometimes I think some folks get it
backwards.
It is like what I believe Liz said? Paraphrasing badly here.. If you want
to fix the problem with down pasterns then don't breed dogs that are known
to produce / sire it. I couldn't agree more. This makes far more sense to
me than putting out an Informational pamphlet on a "problem" that again,
can be corrected if people will stop breeding the dogs that are known for a
fact to have issues with it.
