This is a big problem with pasterns and Vets. I know of people whos Vet
wanted to splint the front legs, or operate. Many years ago I sold a puppy
and told the people the puppy was slightly down and gave the selenium and
Vit. E and told them how to use it. Even told them how long it would take
if they followed instructions.
Next day he called and told me the Vet told him only horses had pasterns and
the puppy's bones would be dissolving by the time he was a year old.
I took my puppy back and found him a good home with people who had brains
and he lived a very long and happy life.

About a month ago I flew to Utah to pick up three sable puppies from a
co-breeding. Sunday before last I placed the pick male with a former
co-worker...I gave him the dog FREE...I had too many dogs and I was unable
to sell him and since I was on my way to NYC it seemed the right thing to
do. The puppy was a bit down in his front pasterns but it was not noticeable
to a novice.....well I get back from NY and the guy left two phone messages
on my phone asking me to call him...I call back and he tells me that he took
the puppy to three vets and they all said that he had a rare bone disease
and parasites (worms)..well I try to explain the down pasterns and he then
tells me that he put the puppy to sleep (sorry Connie and Max)......why he
could not wait until I got back from NY is beyond me...what kind of vet
would put a puppy down who was not in pain and down in pasterns...the guy
had the puppy for less than a week!....I started to get the name of the vet,
but then I thought
about my famous temper and decided against it....there are times that I
wished I didn't own animals....Ed
