Mine was "Lady". (There was collie in there somewhere and of course we've
all read the Lad series...I know...not very original.) She had the face and
coat of a rough collie, the rest was white with two brown spots. My God I
loved her:)
I REMEMBER what it's like to want to touch a dog, any dog, as a child. I
love that look a child gets, they know they should ask, maybe they hesitate,
but WOW how their faces light up when I say "you can pet them". AND pet,
grab,
hug they do!
And yes, some local folks will attest I really did send a special into the
ring with red, white and blue cotton candy in his fur. (It was a holiday
weekend, he was the center of a group of children right before going in. I
missed
it, probably made it worse with the ever present water bottle, the judge
didn't miss it and we STILL laugh about it!)
I don't care how somebody gets started, let's just get them started and make
it fun:)
