Several past GSDCA boards have correctly chosen to not address this issue.
It is obvious that you have the opposite opinion.
White GSDs will always be white GSDs, no matter what name you give them. For
all of these years, the white GSD enthusiast has had the opportunity to cross
breed any non-GSD into their lines, and with that they could have actually
created their separate breed. Instead, they want full blooded GSDs and damn
that
part of the standard. I'll admit that I'm a bit of a purist where the
standard is concerned, but the degree of disregard for the document that I've
been
seeing recently is actually scary. I wonder, if I fell asleep for twenty years,
if I'd be able to identify the breed when I wake up. It could not maintain
type while everyone's opinion was more important than the standard itself.
Giving separate breed status is condoning the breeding of GSDs with a
disqualifying fault. Board members should not condone the breeding of dogs
with
disqualifying faults. For that reason alone, they should not even address the
issue.
I'm sorry to those of you who love white GSDs ... but the color is a
disqualification and that has never been a secret. GSDs are not supposed to be
white,
no matter how much you love your white dog. If you want a white GSD ... you
should live with its status. If you want separate breed status, you should
create a separate breed and stop looking for ways to keep your GSDs while
ignoring the GSD standard. Make a choice. Do you want a GSD or do you want
something else? You can't have both in one dog.
