Am I the only one who believes the National is more than a dog show???
Is it not our membership meeting?
Is it not an educational experience?
Should not all members have a chance to be within driving range of that every
few years? If you want the membership to grow and if you wnat this club to have
relatane to others than just the elite exhibitors, than you need to consider
the MEMBERSHIP not just the exhibitors.
Unfortunately it is getting to be more and more difficult to get dogs to
anywhere - and if we make it so difficult for regular members to participate,
then they will go play elsewhere. I know this is a show list, but let's not
shoot ourselves in the foot by discouraging people from participating.
The hard-core exhibotors will find a way to get their dog most likely to
succeed to the show, regardless. The fringe exhibotor and the member not
showing at nationals is not going to go. And I feel that is just a short step
to leaving the club because people feel disenfranchised.
Just keep that in mind --- and think about how many of us are gray haired and
considering this puppy may be our last one --- it may one day be a very lonely
show --

has it, going away. Again to draw similarities to the National. You need
to put them where they will potentially get the best draw. The Nationals at
Ft Collins was, from what I understand an overwhelming thumbs up from
exhibitors (us included) and would love to see it be one of the three
permanent sites if that were to ever come to pass.....I think like real
estate...it is going to be about LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION, for nationals
and Futurities...esp in light of punishing gas and air fare / shipping
prices.
